“Mental illness is a very difficult human experience which, if not treated, seriously compromises the quality of an individual’s life and sometimes leads to a tragic outcome. Fortunately, the skillful application of psychopharmacology and therapeutic technique often leads to very effective control of symptoms, permitting my patients to resume a more successful course of their life journey. Thus, for me, failure for anyone to find and engage in such treatment is particularly poignant. There are occasionally issues in life for which there is no effective resolution and must simply be accepted and bourne. The burden of mental illness should not be one of those. The challenge of helping an individual successfully deal with their emotional problems continues to capture my motivation and commitment to psychiatric practice.”
